| Some don't know what long hauling is but think they were overcharged because there is a big rate change. It's happened to me when I took the same ride from McCarran to the same strip hotel but noticed a big difference in price. I think it's an image problem when people feel cheated before they even start to gamble. If Vegas gets the reputation of trying to cheat many will reduce the number of times they vacation there. |

| Absolutely agree with Brian--two recent examples. My friend was charged $27 from South Point to the airport; maybe not long hauling but that seems excessive. I'll call South Point when I find time and get their take on it. By the way, SP has a shuttle, but they tell you that a reservation is needed in advance. I had purchased a package online and had no idea that it was necessary to get a reservation in advance to use their advertised "free" shuttle from the airport. My sister has been long hauled at least twice but refused to do the paperwork or make the phone calls to report it. I think it happens a lot but people are in town to play and don't want to waste the time reporting infractions. Also, now we learn that Brian, who knows the ropes and took the time, got zapped. It explains why 90% of the cabbies don't want the flat fee. After all with millions of trips to and from the airport and just over 800 reports and 200 citations your odds of hitting the mega jackpot are better than getting caught cheating. The irony of the situation is it gives a black eye to Vegas and is one more reason to play locally rather than to mess with Vegas. Linda |

Serious about stopping long-hauling, my a$$. Deb and I got long-hauled from McCarran to downtown earlier this month even as I was telling the driver to stay out of that tunnel. We filed a phone complaint with the taxi authority, got a looooooong song and dance from them promising action on the violation leading up to an expensive ticket for the driver, and possibly more. They promised snail-mail legal forms needing notarized signatures plus a group of photographs for us to identify the driver, not unlike a police lineup.
Not a peep outta them since then despite repeated emails asking for some movement on our complaint. The public stand they take on long-hauling is just a lot of publicity blathering, they don't give a rat's fat backside about it. |
