Just so that everyone understands, that tournament would have qualified as my favorite promotion even if I'd gotten skunked. The overlay was astounding. I can't remember the exact numbers we figured out, but a seat cost $550 and was immediately worth well over $2,000 even before the first card was dealt. |

Winstar World Championship of Blackjack in 2009. Quite a unbelievable day for me.

| I've been racking my brain to come up with one--really a great question. The problem with me is I'm just like Brian, my personal definition of favorite promotion is "Linda wins". (Brian took home a well-earned big check from his personal favorite.) The only time I won consistently was a Xmas promo at a local casino, but the prizes weren't particularly big. Vicariously I like the one somebody on this forum wrote/linked about. It involved a free house and money for either taxes or land. Great concept! Linda |

Mine would have to be the Winstar World Championship of Blackjack in 2008. They collected about $250,000 in entry fees yet paid out a staggering $2.5 Million over the course of six months. Now that is the definition of an advantage play! |

When this same promo takes place at Foxwoods and their 7,600 machines, I'll be there. |

If I recall correctly, it was about 850 machines then. You are correct, more floor space to tables in those days.
The top 10 scorers of the day came back for finals at 10 p.m. The winner then had an option to return at 8 the next morning for a pull on every game, or to take a $500 cash prize. That way, anyone who had a flight out was guaranteed something. But the real fun would have been in taking the pulls, and that had to be done early in the morning so not too many games would already be in use.
When they eliminated the option of a pull on every machine, they raised the flat prize from a $500 guarantee to $1,000. |

One pull from every machine: sounds like a lot of fun.
Any idea how many machines they had at that time? (Wouldn't they have allocated more floor space to tables back then?) |

Mine was the Never-ending Slot Tournament at the Sands, daily tournament with a $10 entry fee. Top prize was one pull with full coin in on every slot machine in the joint. Any winner on a $100 machine was a nice payday.
I actually won it once, but it was just after a big change. I won a flat $1,000 --- nice, but the old method would have been fun. |
